Our story

Loeb’s NY Deli is an institution in downtown Washington, D.C. Many visitors come to Loeb’s from all over the DMV and the world. They come for the great food provided in a simple no frills style at a reasonable price point.

We welcome you to dine in the restaurant,on our patio or take delicious food back to the office. Either way, the result is the same great food.

DC tradition

On May 12, 1959, Walter and Sigrid Loeb opened the original Loeb's Deli at 617 15th St. NW. Loeb's has provided great sandwiches, which has been a cornerstone of the Loebs tradition.

Sixty-five years later, Loebs is now located at 1712 I Street NW, Washington DC. It is still family-owned and offers excellent sandwiches at a reasonable price point.

Over the years, Loebs has been forced to relocate twice. In 1979, Loebs moved to 832 15th St. NW,

We carried on our tradition at this location for the next 32 years. In 2010, Loeb's Deli moved to our 1712 Eye St. NW home.

The Loeb's tradition has long been the best destination in downtown D.C. to find Pastrami, Knishes, Matzo Ball soup, Ruebens, and all of your New York deli-style favorites. We look forward to having you as one of our guests every day.
